GRÖNBY

Home is always home, but our views of dwelling has changed with the modern age. In Grönby, a small village situated in the rich farmlands in southern Skåne, have seen a reversed trend in attitude to traditional life. In this project we want to work with what rural life means in the work-, family- and community life look like as migration to the countryside continues. On the outskirts of Grönby a slope rises in been placed to a small village living close to the road. Its location makes it perfect in many ways for developing homes, sheltered from harsh winds, with beautiful views and with unfertile soil beneath we saw its potential to recapture a place of home.

Sharing space with others is fundamental question of human existence. Not just for the individual but for community and society as well. To whom and at what time we chose to share space with is as important as the right to privacy. To be able to do both is a question that connects to quality of life.

A place is nothing without its context. Strengthening community and being an asset is not just good for the surroundings it reinforces the resilience in crisis to a place and to the indivdual. Producing food, building and repairing homes is essential to our basic needs.
